Chocolate chip peanut butter pie heaven.
I’m in a dessert phase right now, if you haven’t already noticed, and this chocolate chip peanut butter pie is just about perfection! You see, we don’t make these kinds of pies here in Australia, so my American hubby is always drooling when I make any dessert that reminds him of home. Plus peanut butter is basically life in our house!
The pie filling is made up of cream and cream cheese, with a healthy dose of peanut butter added, so this pie is creamy and smooth. And that base! Can I tell you a secret? I actually don’t love Oreos. I know! I’m weird. But this Oreo base definitely is a keeper, and it’s actually my favourite part of this dessert. I’m officially converted.
Now I added two options in this recipe because I know how easy it is to make this with Cool Whip, however we can’t get our hands on that here in Oz, so I had to whip up some old school thickened cream. It’s got a high fat content, and a thickening agent in it, and I just find that American whipping cream doesn’t quite work as well for this recipe. Plus, a little cheat here or there in baking is just nice sometimes. So if you can get the Cool Whip, just do that, and the pie will still be just as amazing!

The key with this pie in the chill time. Yes it still tastes incredible after only chilling for a couple of hours, but if you let it set up a little more, it’s a whole lot easier to serve up, and I kinda like the super nice and cold element to this. So here’s my take on a creamy, chocolately, peanut buttery pie. Hope you love it! You can see more dessert ideas here.
